The following information should
be used only as a quick guide. For the full Race Rules and bath tub
specification, please click the 'Information & Rules 2006' link above.
First and foremost, the bath tub race is an event held primarily to raise funds for charitable purposes, and it is a condition of entry that each crew donates moneys to the Organising Committee, which will then be distributed to local deserving causes. Sponsorship forms are provided upon entry. A £30.00 entry fee is charged to cover the cost of staging the race.

- All craft must comply with the ‘Bath Tub
Specification’
- All participants must be at least 18 years
of age on the day of the race and be able to swim competently.
- The bath tub crew must consist of two people
and they must be IN THE BATH
- As many changes of crew may be made by each
team as they wish, but the crew change MUST TAKE PLACE AT THE RIVERBANK
AND NOT MID-STREAM
- LIFE JACKETS WILL BE WORN AT ALL TIMES BY
EACH MEMBER OF THE BATH TUB CREW WHEN THEY ARE IN THE BATH TUB
- The race will cease 3 hours after the start
time. Any tub remaining in the water from this point onwards will
not be deemed part of the race
- Should, in the opinion of the organisers,
a craft or crew appear to be "unseaworthy", it will not be permitted
to participate in the race
- The Race Secretary must receive all entries
one month prior to the event
- It should be clearly noted that, whilst
the Organising Committee maintain a strict control of safety, including
the provision of safety / rescue boats containing trained personnel,
ALL competitors enter at their own risk and should be aware of the
potential hazards of all water sports. The Organising Committee
will not be held responsible for any accident, injury, loss or damage
occurred during the staging of the Adur Bath Tub Race. All participants
enter at their own risk

- ALL CRAFT MUST BE MADE USING A STANDARD CAST IRON BATH, minimum 5'2" (1.59 metres) in length, which must not be altered in any way. Those craft not conforming to this specification (i.e. using a non cast iron bath) are eligible only for the ‘The Lightweights Trophy’, ‘Novel Flotation Cup’, ‘Topical Tub Award’ and the ‘Rose Bowl’.
- Any form of motive power may be used, provided it is manual
- Any form of flotation may be employed, provided it is not part of the structure of any purpose built marine craft and providing that the bottom of the bath itself is in contact with the water
- The dimensions of the completed craft must not exceed:
Width:- Five Feet (1.54 metres)
Length:- Seven Feet (2.15 metres)
- All craft MUST have at least a twenty feet (6.2 metres) length of free running sturdy rope with a float attached showing the tub number. This must be fixed firmly to the bath (not the flotation collar). This is for safety reasons during the launch and also determines the vessels identity and position should it capsize and sink
- All craft must have the name of the organisation and entry number clearly visible in letters and numerals at least one foot (0.3 metres) high displayed well above the water line. The number must also be clearly painted on the bottom of the bath tub itself. Without a visible number, the timekeeper will not be able to give a finish time or position
- All crews will be given a numbered flag which must be attached to craft at all times
